wack another 30 quid on it and get the pioneer mp77 ive got it, great little number, sounds good and has nice high 3x6.5v preouts

cant go wrong with alpine

i'm a bit of an outcast on this topic, i prefer MD to CD anyday

MD dont get scratched/damaged, hold just as much music at same quality, and can re-record them as much as you want

they are also much smaller and you dont have to worry about cases etc

True, CDs do tend to get scratched and you have to carry cases etc around, but as for sound quality, nothing will compare to CD (apart from DAT/super-dat and hard disk recordings @ 96KHz). Personally, if your worried about carrying around discs and want to edit stuff, then get an mp3 player or mp3 harddisk headunit. Its MD quality (@ 320kbit) and you can store lots more tracks than CD and MD put together
