if speedo doesnt work like you say, dont trust the 67k mileage, it sounds like its been clocked back, illeal & bad
sounds like something bought from an auction or a swiftie pulled on the dealer (high mileage sri, feked engine) so dealer just wanted shut
if dealer says gtf or similiar, then get the law involved, but doing that will most likely mean your mate will lose his car & his money...

i had a similar prob as this not that long ago. my speedo dint work neither did the mileage clock and bout every 10-15mins the engine light came on in the dash and then the engine would just cut out. took it to garage asap and said summats bout some sensors near gearbox needed replacing and thats its been a bit of a prob wit some of the corsa's. mines a Corsa Sport 1.4i 16V.

the car is stalling coz the ecu is not getting a vehicle speed signal this is all tied in with the speedo not working and i think at that age it will b on a cable but could b wrong try diconnecting the cable from the gearbox and give the inner cable a twist with your fingers and get someone else to watch the speedo if the needle jumps up check the drive in the box if it dosent it will probebly be the cable snaped inside they have a habit of doing this on the early 16v cars. as 4 the temp gage it could just be the sender in the engine it at the front left hand side of the engine and has one wire going to it try touching it on to the engine and the gauge should read hot if it does the sender is duff

your mate got ass raped the minute he handed over cash for it!! But if he doesnt have the sense to take it back to the dealer then he deserves to drive a heap

It sounds like wat happened to mine. It was the inner of the spedo cable that had corroded due to water gettin in. wat was sed earlier bout the stallin due to the lack of speed signal is true. i got told this alo. It cost me bout £15 for the cable and a couple of hours time but i replaced the spedo cable. Hope this helps, not sure bout the other stuff tho

not read through posts so duno if any1 answered this but, i had this problem, took it to garage, they hooked it up to their computers, and it was the amount of air/petrol which was set wrong. They did it all in a few hours for me.
