on tick over my 1.4 16v is a bit lumpy. it idles fine for a bit and then gives a wee shake, and then settles down and agin a wee shake.(all without the revs goin up or down) i can tell the difference between this and when is misfiring, and its deffo not missing.
so is it just a case of cleaning the air idle valve?
im doing my head gasket next week anyways , so will do it at same time.
ive read the archived posts so know how to do it.
what symptoms warrant cleaning the AIV ?

Yesh thats what id recommend, it wont fix it permenently but should give it another 6 months  im doing mine on my next day off
