im abit tight on money for a couple of months so im gonna service my car myself.i've never done it myself though so what parts usually get changed on a full service?
when i do the oil and filter,how do i drain the old oil out?
what gap should new spark plugs be set at?

right
air filter, oil filter, maybe fuel filter, plugs.
oil is drained from the sump plug under the car.
plugs are set to either 0.8mm (1.4/ 1.6 16v) or 1.0mm (1.2 16v 1.0 12v) i don;t know the other gaps for other engines.
use at least 10w40 oil...

thanks mate. cars a 1.48valve sri,anyone know where i can find out the gap?
also do i just buy any oil filter and sparkplugs?

changing teh oil is a piece of piss, did mine in 10 minutes the other day, and most of that time was waiting for the oil to drain out. clean your induction kit with induction kit cleaner.
donnt need too change plugs or leads unless its neaded, could drain coolent and change brake fluid. change the pollen filter.
all those jobs are a piece of piss mate, anyone could do em.

/me seconds mike  .. yes halfords will beable to get you the right stuff... but haynes manuels are on promotion atm 12.99 ... well they are in my store so get one as they're a good read plus will let you know everything you have to do at the right mileage

also on service check all brakes and adjust the rear shoes if needs be.also check cv boots,gearbox oil and silly bits like lights and stuff

spark plugs come pre-gapped these days, the only time u have to gap them is when they're worn.

just gone and got oil filter,spark plugs,oil and coolant.
didnt have a corsa haynes manual.
how much oil will it take? i got 5ltrs
wheres the sump plug/whats it look like?
does the old oil filter just unscrew and the new one screw on?

Will take 3.5 litres i think. Just pour 3 litres in, and it should read just below the max level on the dipstip if you wait a while for it to settle.
The sump plug is on the lowest part of the ENGINE, not the bellhousing (where the gearbox attaches to the engine), there is a nut 17mm, get a long bar and socket or ring spanner.
Think you need a tool to undo the oil filter, it twists off but will be on tight.
WHen you flush the coolent, undo the lowest pipe on the radiator, and the cap on the header tank. Do this on a drive/road cos it splashes everywhere.
