Driving to work this morning i thought theres no police and it not a built up area so i'll put my foot down. i was going about 30 in third gear. when i did the car sort of shuddered with a cough, then no movement. i stayed at the steady pace i was already travelling at. i pulled over to start again. it felt pathetic in first, second, then third. after pulling up at some traffic lights then starting again it felt normal.
I know im going to get hardly any power out of a 1.0 12v engine, but at least i can expect to get to 40 mph?!!
Has anyone had this sort of problem and what was it....also how expensive.
Could it be because the car was cold when i started it?

Is it a big job...
if its doing this then will the petrol go down any quicker? i might sound really thick but i put £20 in on Monday, have done 130 miles and am nearly on empty again.
I used to have a ford Ka with a 1.3 engine and that did better than this.

Its all good being smug but i still have a heap of shite costing me more than i earn?
Surely it should have been serviced before i bought it? the handbrake thing would have been picked up wouldnt it bacause the light isnt on when i'm driving.

depends who you bought it from! did you ask them if it had been? does it say so in the service histor?, you shouldn't really just assume they are not obliged to do this or anything, and the quality of the service they will have given it will depend ont eh quality of the garage you bought it from so it could have been and you may still have probs if i tnot a great garage
