As long as there is some kind of earth strap from engine to chassis.
There is a earth strap from the starter motor securing bolt to battery or chassis (i cant remember) on my misses corsa.

There is no earth strap on my car, im quite sure of this, Im still trying to get to the bottom of my top end speed problem it was something that crossed my mind.
I will fit this weekend see if it helps

I doubled up on all the earth straps on my Calibra, you cant have too many. I also doubled up on the cable from the alternator to battery positive. It gives a higher voltage under load now.
I used some thick amp power cable.

  Cheers miles, gonna try and sort an extra few earth straps this weekend me thinks see if it stops the weird electrics my motor has form time to time
