Is it on the inside? under panels? Thinners should get it off, but you wouldn't want to put it on paintwork.

Panel wipe/spirit wipe/degreaser, depends on wot your local b/shop calls it.

the only thing halfords sell is nitrox paint remover (very nasty stuff) or surface cleaner sold in the paints isle (looks like a primer can but has surface cleaner written on it)

Give one of them a try as they might work!

Think you can get hold of a foamlike substance which softens the dried stuff, then you just keep wetting it, and rubbing it off with a sponge or whatever, but I can't remember what they call it sorry

pre paint is the best stuff Ive found - comes in a blue 5 litre drum - very very good stuff - tar, residue, stickers sticky crap - very good stuff
