how easy is it to change engines from a 1.3 nova to a 1.2 corsa? what will i need to do this?

Why?

You will need the engine, carbs, fuel pump (?), ignition and wiring and maybe the gearbox.

Thw whole lot should bolt into your existing engine/gearbox mounts and the wiring will be very simple as it won't have fuel injection wires/sensors to fiddle with.

far easier to get a 1.4 16v or even 8v

Very seay, just swap the engine keep gearbox in there (unless it's 4spd) then you'll need a carb fuel pressure reg set to abotu 3-5psi. and power to the coil, then a bung for where the old loom used to go in to the shell. Done.
