i am about to do the timing belt and tensioners but vauxhall have two different belts. there is one for engine numbers up to something like 14145838 ( cant remember exactly) and one for numbers after that. problem is i cant rear my engine number so dont know which belt i need. it looks like the engine on the left in the above pic so anyone know which one i need

isnt the year of manufacture stamped someware under the oil cap (ive seen fad check this)

som you would be able to tell of the year ?

or do what you say and see what look like it

you can tell by the shape of the belt cover.
compare the shape of the outlines in the pic you've posted and you'll soon see which you have.

there wasnt a belt cover on it when i bought to car, another thing i need to get

if there's no belt cover on it, then you can easily look down the side and see what arrangement of rollers you have.

also, the belts are different. one has square teeth and the other has round teeth.
can't remember which is which though really.

generally all dizzy xe's will be the left belt set up, and let's and later disspack xe's are the right pic set up. generally though. you can tell by looking a the tooth types on the pulleys
