anyone got any ideas why a m reg 8 valve 1.4 sri would rev high when you start her up?goes upto 2000 revs for a second then dies down back to normal,i think it needs a tune but has anyone else had this problem and what was the answer?cheers

seems normal, most cars do it so you dont have to touch throttle when starting

same as mine mine stays at 1500 to 2 on tick over
i have had the idle control valve cleaned but still does it

sometimes its if ure engines cold, mine does it every now and then but u cud try reducing it by cleaning ure idle control valve, check ure temp sensor aswell and also if u find out like me it was ure EGR causing over-revving clean that or buy a new one

yeah its not all the time as mine idles at 1000 ,and its not in cold weather,it starts first time everytime,its just recantly its started,will look into idle control valve
