i have a gsi ecotec. does any one no wot the ecotec valve does and can it be removed to boost performance

its part of an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system... basically takes out some of your exhaust fumes and pumps em back into the intake in an attempt to reduce emissions, but as a drawback saps power too! I think you can remove part of it and blank off the hole thats left, but i dunno if that gives u back any more power
