Tesco ask you (work there), its a legal requirement that any item sold which needs a tv to use they get the details of the purchaser. only have to fill in a printed off reciept thou takes seconds, name and adresss only i think. could write anything thou there never checked they are just sent off to the liscence authority.

They sent a tv license letter to my uni house saying

well f*ck you - the house has a license as someone else paid it.

No they dont thats rubbish.... Go to a small independent and pick one up.
The sony one is by far the best on the market--- if you dont get that then all the others are much of a muchness.... get one with a scart if your going cheap....... I sell these at work and there is no legal requirment for us to take your adress or for you to give it me... thats just what the multi national companies(curries ect) tell you so they can get your details on their system and send you out extended warruntee details in 10 months time

go to http://www.freeview.co.uk/ to test your signal.
My postcode says freeview isn't available, it still works fine for me

I paid £100 for a Sony one. Although I agree that a £30 one from Asda will do the job just as well.
