Is this probably what was causing it?

I found these two weren't attached like they should be. However, does anybody know where the pipe collects water from?
Thanks
Edit: By the way, it wasn't actually sticking into my boot, I just put it there as it was easier to take the picture!

no, thats what I thought, but when I poured water down there, it just ran around the boot opening and out from the area around the tail lights.
I have looked at the top related thread on this page, and have found it may be something to do with the rear washer?

Yeah, seconded. Seen this loads of times, think people pull them out to change bulbs and forget to put them back and voila- a puddle in boot.

ok, thanks guys, sounds right as it has rained loads lately!
Now, new question, my rear washer doesn't work on the screen, but when I turned it on earlier, then opened the boot, the boot was still dry, but the outside of the rubber seal was covered in green screenwash! Any ideas?

I found why the rear washer doesn't work!
where the pipe goes from the car body to the hatch, through the black cover, the pipe was snapped. Hopefully it will just be needing a new connection, as trying to replace the pipe will be hell!
