im looking for a laptop as my cd drive decided to fuck up again and im sick of the thing. plus my 13 year old laptop that i use for ecu diagnostics and mapping broke a few weeks back ( I got angry and stamped on it when it lost the map out of my ecu meaning another trip to noble motorsport for a re-map )

im sick of looking on the net for deals because they are never available instore and I need one today as i have bought the missus an i-pod for her birthday today and she cant use it

anyway, has anyone seen any good laptop deals in places like comet, pc world dixons etc.... and with laptops is it worth buying a brand name like toshiba or are stuff like acer any good? got £600 to spend.

what features should i look for?

I've got an acer. 1.6 pentium M, 512MB ram 40gig HDD. if your not using it for anything other that what you were doing before then any new laptop is going to be better surely. places like Dell offer good deals but you have no person near by for back up and they don't always have the best deals for spec either

aldi had an amazing laptop in the paper the other day amazing spec, a median one top notch was about £699 though, but when i looked there was no were that would give you a higher spec than that, probs sold out now though they sel pretty fast when they get em in, pop down to an aldi store if you have one close might get a bargain.

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem with Dell laptops but the ones at work (three diffrent models) have dodgy power supplys that won't charge the battery after a while. Change the power supply and they charge. Nice tidy systems apart from that.

He says he has to get it today so dell's no use.
And if the specs are ok buy it.
Brand names mean nothing.
