As a few of my friends have recently had virus's on their PC's and had no end of trouble getting them sorted im think i should look into backing everything up. I remember someone saying a while ago that you could take a "snapshot" of the C: drive and save it onto an external drive so that if ever things go tits up you just format the c: drive and copy everthing back over from the external drive.
Is this pretty much what you do?
I assume it will copy everything including installed cprogs etc?
and also what software will do this, preferably free?
Thanks

you can ghost the drive to an 'image' which will save everything.
