The Thatcham Accreditation Process
Thatcham is a world renowned car testing organisation, based in the UK, part funded by the Government and part funded by the Insurance industry.
Thatcham, amongst many things, crash tests new cars and produces insurance ratings as a result.
One of Thatcham's programmes is the testing and approval of panels. This is a new programme which will take many years to develop. However, SEL-Imperial is one of a small number of accredited distributors allowed to distribute these products by Thatcham.
The scheme's objective is to deliver a high level of product quality, identified by a unique Thatcham marking on each component. The procedures for the accreditation process are based on an assessment of the component manufacturer's processes, using recognised "best practice" techniques as well as component verification utilising Thatcham's engineering "know-how" and facilities.
