Just got the internet put in at my new house and have decided to get rid of my main PC and just use our 2 laptops wireless. No problems there.
The only problem I have is that my PC had about 100gb of music on it that I dont want/cant put on the laptops as they only have 40gb HDD's. I have seen some external HDDs on ebuyer that will plug straight into a network port on my router and would do the job perferctly. However they are pretty expensive @£120 for 120gb of storage.
Is there anyway I can connect a normal HDD upto the router at a more cost effective manner?

Actually just had another look and the bigger you get the cheaper it becomes. £160 for 300gb which is much better value but I just dont have £100+ quid at the moment 
If there is a way then I could just utilise my old HDD hopefully.

Why not just buy an external HDD case only and put your current 100GB HDD into it

i dont think you can get the hardrive cases that plug into the router, ive never seen them.
however i have seen a router that will allow you to plug usb external hardrives into it.
but like i said i dont think just a normal harddrive enclosure will plug into your router.

Ive seen the router that allows USB HDD's but I already have a router so dont want to buy another.

Put your 100gb drive in an external USB caddy = approx £19.99
Then plug that into a laptop via the USB cable and transfer etc.
Easiest and cheapest way

I want it to be available all the time from either laptop.
If its USB I will have to cart it around with my laptop depending upon where Im sitting.
Been having a look and I dont think there is any other way other than to get a NAS HDD but Im skint at the minute

Keep your pc, connect to the the router and use it as a server! Cheapest option - its FREE 
Otherwise, your going to have to spend a lot of money on a NAS setup, which will, as you've seen, is about £120+!!
personally i would would go with option one
