I believe it ties in with your current internet deal and it's free to register and what not. You'll need the ethernet adapter.
Unlike Xbox Rip Off Live where you have to pay to subscribe.

I take it you need broadband then.....which isnt a problem, im getting it back in a week or two.
So, what i need is an ethernet adapter that goes from my PS2 into my modem or into my computer?

I've not done it myself but i'd imagine you'd have to have BB.
I think it plugs into the back of your PS2 then through a modem. It's a little black box thing. I saw it for £19.99 once with Twisted Metal Black in GAME
I don't know why i've not given it a go yet

Just get a network card in your PC and connect the PS2 via that.

I'll have to run a lead through the floor from my room to the PC downstairs. That's the only drawback.
Can you use the internet and play PS2 Online at the same time?

Yeah, it's just like normal internet sharing, all users can use it at the same time. I actually like the PS2 online system!

yeah you can but you have to have a network card for your comp, normally you would just run your network cable straight into the modem.

You can always wireless network it too i think, have the network cable going into a wireless networker and at the other end into your modem or through your computers wireless network and through your modem like that...
Someone correct me if im wrong here.
