Sorry if this has been asked before but i can't find anything by searching...
My car is a 1.4 8v Flair, which is really really slow  and i was wondering how hard it would be to put a 1.6 8v in, and if there would be much change in performance?

dead easy
you getting it from a nova? you will need to make a section of wiring up
fit a 16v fuel pump
aprtfrom that itll drop straight in

cheers doesn't sound too bad then! Would there be much change in performace? As i can get insured on a 1.6 but not a 2.0 yet

It would be quite a bit quicker than the 1.4 but the 16v would be more of a difference!
would you get insured on a 1.6 16v?

Not sure i will have to phone up im only 18  I had a 1.6 8v Astra mk2 as my first car and got insured on that... I would like a 16v though! Which of the engines are more reliable? I dont want to be fixing it all the time

x16xe if your gone start tuning it,or even a 2.0 8v,seh engine

8 valves are a lot more reliable and they have just as much power.mine is as quick as a gsi.try and fnd a c16se engine if u can its the most powerfull out of all the 1.6 8 valves.

8v blocks are bulletproof, 16v engines more prone to problems (eg. egr valves, sticky valves etc). stick to the 8v'ers

Im unsure what to do now tbh, just want a little more power but dont want my insurance to go through the roof, i keep looking at the 1.4 16v sports, can get insured on one of them for a reasonable price, is there much that can be done to theses engines without spending alot?

c16se engines are in nova gsi's mostly but i found mine in an astra in a scrap yard.paid 90 quid for the engine and ecu used my close ratio 1.4 sri box and it fly's. took me day 2 take the 1.4 out and put the 1.6 in.

yeh i fink its an f13 .its got the highest power band out of all the 1.6 engines 2 it pulls right up 2 6 and a half thousand rpm.top speed is 120 but that is because of the gear box it hits the limiter in 5th.
