So its head off

new valve or reseated if its ok.
new headgasket kit
new cambelt kit

And all should be good so glad its not ring's.

going to also replace the valve stem seal's while the head's off.

It also explains why the car is still running aswell as always and not miss firing etc.

how does the valve staying open cause it to burn oil??? a bent valve or a valve that isnt seated properly is likely to make it run poorly and missfire as you would be losing compression.

im confused.

did a test with air or something like that,

And it came out the exhaust or something i really dont know, i wasnt paying much attention, but apprently its a valve causing the problem, the ring's etc are fine he said...

They were messing with it for an hour and had about 4 vauxhall mechanics around it where my mate works so im pretty sure they did it all correctly....

My mate did a compression test first then he went and asked the other guy cause it was down on cylinder 2, so they then did this thing with air to see if it came out the dipstick or exhaust, they had to get the piston to the point it ignites at first i think

the reason they got the culinder to tdc (the point it ignites) was to make sure the valve was fully shut.

it may have a problem with a valve but that doesnt explain the burning oil IMO

Yeah, he said my valve stem seal's may also be on the way out but there is no way of testing if they are other than taking the head off and replacing them so he said i may aswell get it all done at the same time.

So your head has got new seal's and everything, so i would just need the valve reseating or replacing then ?

or are the valve's in the head, i cant remember.
