i have a corsa sri, and the other day i opened my oil cap n noticed white gunk round the rim of it, ive heard that this means ur engine is about to go, but its not loosing any oil or overheating and also no unsual smoke comings from the exhaust? i herd of a mate it work that oil gives off condinsation and it could be that because that turns into a white gunk if the car isnt used that much! so ive left it a couple of days without starting it and opened it just before and there no white gunk so im worried now can anyone help?!?

sounds like a head gasket is going

wipe off the gunk and leave it for a few days see if it comes back

if its the 16v then you'll be looking at about £400

how much do you rekon for a 8 valve?
