My gf got a free-to-view box for her tv that connects to the tv and the ariel on the roof to allow her to watch ALL the free-view channels. I was considering getting one based on some factors:
They're cheap (sub-£40).
I get very back signal on Channel 4 and 5
But, when is digital changeover? Shall I just wait and get a digital box for a bit more? Can these terrestrial boxes be upgraded to digital signal?

The change over has started parts of wales has digital only think the whole switch over is going tobe done by 2012
Its a bit hit and miss with some of the cheap freeview boxes the frimware can be a bit iffy saying that i have a el-cheapo freeview box from asdas (£25) and that works fine but ya get what you pay for. My pioneer on was £120 quid 3 years ago and never had a problem with that either apart from the odd lock up
You may also need a wideband digital aerial to recive all the channles if you havent got one already
freeview has come a long way since the start . I had on-digital from when it started. in the next 18 months there will be HD freeview what is on test in parts of the uk and europe

My gf has a TFT tv so that might be helping the picture quality.
I read the instructions on the box and it said to connect 1 cable from the tv to the box, a different cable to connect the box to the tv, and connect the box to the ariel cable.
Sounds a piece of piss really.

Says on that link that 'digital changeover will be done by 2012' so I've got a couple of years to go, I thought it was 2008.
£40-60 over 5 years is nothing really

The one my gf has is plugged into her tv and then her ariel.
Is it both digital AND analogue?

I have one, it doesn't work.
Make sure the postcode is covered by the digital signal, unlike mine.

Eve if the postcode isn't covered it still might work.
Just get a box from asda or tesco and if it doesn't work take it back.
