Whats the difference between 1080i and 1080p?
Is this setting through the xbox better than 480p and 720p? (my eyes cant se any difference)
Have we only got a fake HD as the japs have 2250p (or somthing like that)
Just some rumours ive heard that i want to get cleared up.

1080i is an interlaced signal
1080p is a progressive signal
Interlaced means it shows lines 1,3,5,7... then 2,4,6,8.... then 1,3,5,7,9...
Progressive means it shows lines 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Progressive takes twice as much bandwith than interlaced so is not used often

Progressive is better, any decent console or next gen media player should support it over hdmi.

Are the Samsung R74's good HD TV's?
Are they future proof for the next few years? I.e Do they actually do full HD which I belive is 1080p?

You need to go at least 40" atm to get full hd. (i don't know of any 32" ones in the uk anyway)
Altough i thinks theres a sharp 37" one.

I would be looking to get the 32" R74 TV.
just wondering if its a wise purchase of if there are better ones for the same money.

Yeh my samsung, arnt sure of the model, but its a 32inch the black 1(they might all be black:look dosnt support the 1080p, i heard that next month they will be releasing tvs that support 2250p the same as the japs 
As above, should i have waited and got a 1080p TV, can eyes notice the difference

Emm i suppose it depends on your source.
If you won't have any 1080p content until the next time you buy a tv and you don't want any bigger than a 32" then there prob woudln't be any point.

There would be absoluetly no point in a 2250p tv because there would be nothing to play on it.

My projector is 1080i and the quality on that when playing an HD source is fantastic, on an 80" screen, so I think if you are looking at a 32" tv theres really no point in getting 1080p over 1080i

There is a point to get p over i for any size - motion blur which can happen sometimes during really fast moving scenes, with progressive signals you will never get the blur so even on a 32" it would be beneficial (provided you are feeding it the signal)

So the Samsung R74 32" has freeview bulit in, can take a VGA connection and is fairly future proof at least for the next 2/3 years?
