Is there a certain bore size your supposed to have depending on what bhp your running etc? Im wanting a new exhaust and was wondering if it matters what size I get etc.. Thanks.

might be BS but some guy who came to a meet one night mentioned something about for C20LET the best bore size is 3". so im guessing if its an 20xe or whatever, smaller than 3" should suffice.

Oh right ok, but i was thinking, a C20LET could be running standard or could be running over 300bhp, that mean 3" bore is going to be the best for what ever power its making? Same for XE's..?

It does depend on power, yes.

As a rule of thumb, 2.25" is good for a standard XE, 3" is good for a 300bhp LET, so .25" per 50bhp

Actually are you sure? A 300bhp LET would need a 1.25" exhaust?

He means, 2.25" on a standard XE, idealy 2.50" for a 200bhp XE or standard LET, a 2.75" for a 250bhp LET, or a 3" for a 300bhp LET, get it?

Yeah, I didn't word it very well did I?

What I mean is

150 = 2.25"
175 = 2.5"
200 = 2.75"
250 = 3"

Which doesn't work either

There's an article in PPC mag explaining better than me, I'll go and find it

Ok, PPC says

100bhp = 1.5"
200bhp = 2.75"
300bhp = 3.5"
400bhp = 4.25"

They seem a bit large to me though

It depends on the size of the exhaust ports too, the system should be 1.5-2 times the size of the primaries on the manifold, which should match the port sizes

Would the engine being either N/A or Turbo also affect this though?

Yeah, Turbo exhausts generally flow better as they have less silencers in them, so they don't need to be quite as big as an N/A engine of the same power, if that makes sense?

It's really really complicated

Turbo engines dont really on backpressure as much as NA, so yeah it does effect it.

Which is why turbo's are best with a larger bore system.
