Ok I know this isn't a Pug forum but they take forever to reply when someone on here will know.
Bascically, heard a knocking noise coming from the top of the engine? Engine runs fine etc, poss needs a service, but I heard a knocking noise isn't good?
Also, is their anything it could be? cheers

i work at a peugeot dealer, just had a word with a mechanic and he seems to think that is probably your camshaft followers or camshaft seat. is the noise more to one side? or evenly throught the head?

cheers mate... it's nearer to the centre of the engine. When I rev it the knocking gets faster. Just had to nip out for work, and the car didnt start, it tried twice.. Then when I put the bonnet up and turned the key to try again it started first time it's done that ?

How do you mean? Her knocking gets faster when you put the throttle down, it has been checked by various garages and is basically knackered. She doesn't drive it. It's sitting on her drive till she can afford to get it fixed.

Yeah, but I don't fully understand engines. The Zetec engines are prone to burning oil, which it did by the previous owner as I always checked the oil in hers. From what I gathered, one of the pistons is basically wobbling in the engine, as the piston ring has gone.
Something like that. Might not be exactly the same problem as yours. After all, they are different engines BUT what you described sounds similar.

Nah I understand. I've been told it could be something to due with the spark plugs? Or something around that area. As for all, dodgy spark plugs would cause it to miss fire on start up?

Nope... But it has been cutting out at low revs.. Only done it a couple of times though after It's been pushed in first gear mate.... onyl dnoe it a few times though?

my sisters zetec s bottom end totaly fooked becuase of low oil......the oil light doesnt come on untill its in the garage by the way!
is it a knocking or a tapping (k2 gti)

It's knocking mate, can only hear it when bonnet is up though.. It's not low on oil?!

its very rare for an engine "knock" from the head. r u sure its not coming from the bottom end?
it sounds like a conrod problem to me mate

Well, rang spoox and taking it down tomorrow. I said could you tell me what it was from describing on the phone, and he said he don't want to scare the shit out of me without looking at it.. just paid £600 to get gearbox and clutch fitted on Friday too
