diagnostics on the car today revealed a problem with the egr valve, any body have similar problems?easy job to sort?

if its a 16v corsa b, they are utter shite to change. i hate doin them.

yup common problem u can get it blanked off with a couple of metal pieces cut to the shape of the valve

why would you want to blank it off? what advantage has this got?

blanking it off fools the ecu in thinking that the erg is working. it also means u don't have to replace the egr and blanking it is alot cheaper.

but surely it would run shite like it is now.... anyways car started cutting out at below 1k revs, a bit embarrasing on the main road at the lights managed to get home, left it for a bit and now the engine management has gone off and the cars running fine again

I had this problem in Nov, my local vaux gge quoted 260 quid to replace it
