My cousin has bought himself a K reg nova GSI. The guy who owned it said it has a 16v bottom end on it (from the factory)
Could this be correct?
Any way to easily tell?
Would a Nova GTE engine be the same as a GSI engine? i.e. would the byldenstein head, inlet, exhaust and the ancillaries fit the GTE engine.
Thanks.
I'm useless when it comes to novas

It wont be correct, no nova's had 16v bottom ends.
Easy way to tell, 16v bottom ends have the engine code/number on the edge by the gearbox, 8v its on the top face where the cylinder head is(near exhaust port 4)
GTE engine is same as Early GSi engines, later gsi were different.

Thanks for that.
It would be a later Nova GSI engine. It's on a K plate, and one of the last made.

If it has a airflow meter its a early 1600 8v engine.
Later ones had a dispak and map sensor.

Right. Cheers for that Vaux Lad. He said it has a dis pack.
Just spoken to him then. He wants to know if an 8 valve head will fit a 16 valve bottom end. Why, I ain't a clue.

Its a C16SE then, very late nova engine.
Also came in mk3 astras.
I think you can make a 8v head fit, but im not sure it goes straight on.

The block is the same, but the pistons would hit the 8v head, due to them being taller and the rods being different.
The head will fit the block, but the internals need swapping for 16SE ones.
