I was originally looking at the 27 quid a month option from bt, but i'm saving 7 quid a month and at the worst I have to pay the 40 quid activation fee if I leave virgin within 12 months.

Couldn't tell you.
My house phone is used rarely, if looking into things like that pipex may turn out to be a better option because I have no idea.
