My Corsa (X16XE) drives along at 30-40 mph at about 92 degrees, no problem what so ever.
However, on the motorway, doing about 85ish, the temp rises to a steady 95-97 degrees, and sometimes 98ish when the weather is warmer outside.
Any ideas how to solve this? I know there is nothing wrong engine wise, as the car doesnt lose coolant or oil.
Also got the water pump changed with the cambelt around August, so I assumed they had changed the coolant then?
Somebody has mentioned changing the coolant and fitting a cool running thermostat, what are your opinions on this?

try usin summer coolant, i use antifreeze in the winter and summer coolant in the summer in my gsi, temp never goes over 90 when driving

possibly an airlock/ faulty thermostat / coolant leak / needs a coolant change.....

definitely not a coolant leak Dave, as the level never changes, apart from when warm obviously.
So would the best course of action be a coolant change and new thermostat?

TBH the cooling system on these things is pretty crap IMO
Cramped engine bay, small rad and not much ventilation. I fancy some astra GTE bonnet vents

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, as long as it doesn't go over 100.
Change the thermostat for a new standard one though, if you think there's something up.

A temporary method of sorting this is wacking the heating on full blast and the temp will drop in no time

Yea I know that Ricky, but not when I'm on a Motorway journey is it? not a good idea really on a long journey!
So Robin, you think just change the thermostat?
Oh, and also, the fan doesnt kick in until 102 degrees, which I know is ok, but thought it may be useful information.

The thermostat is apparent £60odd from gm tho?
As its built into the housing cover.
Could be expensive to change that and find its not at fault.

It's not part of the cover, it comes out.

Autovaux quoted me £19.95 + VAT, and that includes the housing.

on nearly any car i have had i wire the fan to a manual switch. then you can determine as and when you cool the engine. Best thing is tho the way i do it. it will stiull kick in on its own if i forget the switch but just at the normal temp!

Mine just came out like the C14SE ones do 
Mine was a post 97 1.4 though, and I used it on my 1.6 as it was about a month old.
Maybe they changed it?

Hmm, on my 1998 X16xe it wont budge at all.
Unless its just stuck....
If you could remove them why would vaux sell them ready fitted to the housing tho?
