i have hardly any files!
laptop went all dodge so did a recovery on it. it ended up losing all my music/film/vids/programmes etc.....but it says that my 40gb hard drive is 92% full yet i cant access anything that would make it so full! lol
doing a search on the comp (inc hidden files) doesnt come up with anything.
how can i find all this data adding upto so much?! lol or should i just reformat it n forget it as its too much hassle!lol

Could be a faulty hard drive and you've lost a load of sectors, might be worth taking it into a shop / specialist who can deal with it. Wont be cheap tho, most charge just to look at it

I had a virus that did this many years ago, called spacefiller or something.
