Recently everytime my engine gets warm the engine seems to hestitate when putting your foot down. It accelerates smoothly but the power just aint there. When it's cold its absolutely fine. The engine is also very tappy when warm and is losing oil. Is the engine on its way out ? By the way it's a 1.4 16V 80k on the clock.

Yes it's burning oil, stinks after a long journey, seems to be running rich too, stinks of petrol. Oil light comes on quite often but only for a few seconds and yes i also have an induction kit.

If you still have you airbox put that back one and go for a spin.
Either the head gasket or the piston rings might have gone. Oh and the Valve stem oil seals. Try and get it compresion tested.

I don't think it's the induction kit mate because this has only just recently started happening. The headgasket was replaced about 15k ago and it's showing no symptoms of the headgasket going. If it was the piston rings or the valve stem oil seals wouldn't it be blowing blue smoke? Oh and by the way the oil is leaking around the plugs so looks like i need to replace the rocker cover gasket but that shouldn't be causing the problems should it? Did a compression test a few weeks ago and it all seemed fine.

Using 15W-40 GTX High mileage oil mate. Did an oil change not long ago and had to top it up again today because it was almost empty. I can't really see where all the oil goes there is a fair bit by 2 of the plugs but i can't see how i've lost over 3L of oil

Not that I am a mechanic or anything remotely to do with engineering, so this could be rubbish, but that sounds exactlky like what my m8s 306 had and it turned out to be a fuel leek and something else but cant think what it was called. But it only cost him £85 to fix?!?

If that was the case then it would happen all the time? I only get the problem when the engine is warm. What do i need to replace the rocker cover gasket? Obviously the gasket but what else i.e what tools do i need, sealent etc. Thanks for all your help guys.
