I have a striped canvas that i painted myself, and in the living room i have a black and white framed print of a pier going out onto the sea
In Richies study i have a framed print of a big purple flower thing, which will probably be taken down and put into the spare room 
www.canvas2u.co.uk is a good site, if you find a photo you like then have one printed, also ASDA now do canvas prints pretty cheap as well
Have a go at painting one yourself if you think you can, a 4ft x 3ft canvas is £10 and you can always paint with emulsion tester pots at 90p a pot frm homebase
It depends on the colours/theme of the room that you want to put a canvas on...

its exactly in the centre of the wall though, not just randomly placed. That cupboard on the left is as far left as it can go without blocking the door, so its the best I could do

Ahhh thats not too bad then, although I think i'd still have to move the bed over a bit
