........it take to change the headgasket and get the car working again?
My Corsa headgasket went on friday and it's been in the garage since yesterday, kind of hoping it will be done before or on Friday.

Mechanic told me maybe won't be ready until next week as he needs to send the head off to get skimmed

Yeah not always, sometimes you need it reskimmed sometimes you dont.
Takes about 2-2:30 if you have all the bits there
Buts its a common job I would have thought after all the heads his probably done that he would have the tools needed.
But yeah in that case will take alot longer depending where his sending, how busy they are etc.
Used to be very enoying when I put my bike in the shop and had to use public transport, bloody nightmare !!
Should be sweet when you get it back, new oil, head gasket and cam belt

I won't be thrashing it, can't afford the fuel!
It'll be the 3rd cambelt in 12 months lol!

and 2- 2.5 hours! dont think so, maybe on an 8 valve
looking at 6 is just replacing gasket depending on engine
