you'll need speaker adaptor mounts for any speakers you put in the front, unless you do a bodge job chop on the old ones.
a decent set of components will do you good, with sound proofing material in the doors, very little effort for a good result.
i like my infinity tweeters, make the sound very nice and crisp (took the woofers from the comp set and put them in the boot in boxes, amped), then just some normal 13cm 2 way infinity's in the lower bit.

Sounds shite and really cheap, but my front components are Rainbow. Very clear sound and give good bass. Very happy with them and will definatly recommend them!

17cm for fronts.
however, not all will fit. you'll need to check mounting depths etc.
also, if you aren't amplifying them, is there much point in going larger you should ask yourself. i'd stick to a good quality 13cm comp set, and get your bass from subs etc in the boot.

some infinity/alpine etc 13cm comps will do you well.
when you can afford, sound proof the doors (to get rid of all the rattles etc), and upgrade the headunit to one with decent out puts (25w rms if you can find one)...... assuming you haven't done this already
