Right I know very little about the internet and wirless routers etc. but since I've changed over to sky Broadband every so often the connection seems to drop and when I check the problem it always appears to be something called DNS connection. Can anyone explain to me what this is and why this may be causing a problem? When I restart the router the problem seems to rectify itself but it's hugely frustration when you're in the middle of downloading something or on xbl having to restart the router which is in another part of the house.

Any help would be much appreciated

Does it happen when you download something? For example if you downloaded something big and the problem happened, would it cause the download the stop or would it just stop you browsing the web?

It happens when I both browsing and downloading. I was simply browsing last night when messenager went off and came up with page cannot be displayed etc. on IE and when I ran the diagnostic it failed on the DNS which seems to happening more and more regularly now

if its happened since you went onto Sky Broadband then ring them and get a line test as Steve suggested. I'm more interested if the download stops when MSN freaks out though... cause it could be the wrong DNS servers configured or something but seems like a long shot

I'll give BT a call and try MSN and dowloading together and report back with my findings.
