hey just brought a exhaust manifold gasket
any hints and tips for taking the manifold off?
and do i have to use gasket seal to "seal" the gasket?
if so where can i get the stuff from and how much am i looking at?

You should just about be able to do it without disconnecting the downpipe from the cat/centre section (put people would probably advise to whip them off for the ease of things.
Just dis-connect the maniold bolts one by one, undoing them a bit at a time and working from the middle outwards, alternating top to bottom. Then pull the manifold out away from the engine and remove the old gasket. Then put the new one in (check its the right way round). No sealant needed. Just re-do the bolts up as per how you un-did them. All you should need is a 13mm spanner/socket.

Might be a good idea to replace the studding and nuts when you do the job too as they rust to fuck and are generally the most horrible things to fuck about with on a car
