Right, I have been looking through the portfolio of receipts from the previous owner that I got with the car when I bought it, and this exhaust:

Was custom made by ASCAR exhausts in Sheffield and is a cobra item

Description from receipt:

cobra sport s/s system custom built to vaux corsa with cat bypass pipe to rear silencer with twin motro bike can trims

The total cost............

£355.00

My question is, I am binning this exhaust as I hate it in favour of a normal system (not custom) like Magnex etc.

With the exhaust being custom made, would a ful Magnex cat back system offer up to the cat bypass pipe or would I have to buy a stock cat?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm not sure.

Also, if the car is a 2000 model and has a "cat bypass" pipe then surely this is an MOT failure?

Thanks for any help.

Help me rid this car of the awful exhaust

I preferred the idea of a off the shelf system, but that would probably be the cheaper option. The exhaust was fitted in 2003 and has passed every MOT since with no emission problems.

Just when I read "cat bypass" I thought the CAT wasn't there and wondered how it passed the MOT. Will have a word with exhausts UK and see what they can do.

cheers
