hey have got a set of gsi clocks for my xe cable driven and want to set the mileage to that of my car if possible.

any way of winding it back??

Can be done but some say it buggers the clocks up doing so.

need to remove the odometer from the back of the clocks.
then you slide out thi pin, and spin the numbers round
then slide the pin back in.
although this is illegal and i don not condone it

my car has never been moted or anything and its not for sale so dont really think its illegal...

I just used a tyre depth gauge to put the numbers back round using the slotted bits on the side

i think if you do it that way then the numbers dont stay inline proerly or soemthing i heard

yes it is...
its a pain in the arse to get the rollers held there and slide the pin through (keeping the milage correct)

cable is disconnected from the back of the clocks to remove them, you dont need to touch the cable to clock them

I done the same as olsrey but used a very fine screwdriver, everything has stayed inline etc.

Why, it's not illegal, it is illegal to alter the milage of a car and then sell it with the wrong milage. Just as it's illegal to have a new set of clocks with the wrong milage too.

What you could do is remove the odometer from the original clocks and fit them into the new clocks if at all possible. Or you could attatch a speedo cable to an electric drill and wind them on until the read the correct milage, though that could take a while if the correction needed is massive
