Hi everyone, my girlfriend has a r reg 1.4 petrol corsa with about 40,000 on the clock, went to check the oil yesterday and there was a load of milky coloured greasey oil in there. i cleaned out as much as I could be reaching in with my finger and a rag and topped up the oil....

could it be that the head gasket has gone??

the oil on the dipstick was fine... could it just be condensation in the engine. she probably only does about 20 miles a week.

any ideas???

thanks

If its not much then yea prob condensation, if its really thick then chances are the head gaskets gone

Is it losing water?

Nothing to worry about. Unless it's consuming water. Headgasket is usually gone when it looks more like mayonnaise of whipped cream.

The fact she is doing about 20 miles per week, is the culprit.

Take it for a long drive at the weekend, and bit of a hammering (after it has warmed up, give it about 20 minutes). Should hopefully burn off.

Damp weather doesn't help either.

Short journeys are bad
