Done my gear linkage on my Corsa, but I can't get the little piece that holds it in place on the bit that attaches to the gearbox
This bit (Dodgy pic)

Into here (Where the bolt currently is)

The small spring at the end doesn't compress unless you press it, and obviously you can't press it when it's in the middle of the linkage, so confused and Haynes doesn't help in the slightest

Are you using a new pin? Ive seen 2 types used, one like yours with the hook and another type with 2 little springy flaps. Looks like the hook might not be quite the right shape there, whenever Ive used them before they just push in

Just push it in and push it through. It'll go all the way to the bottom then pop out.

Steve, I tried that, I even tried doing that without the linkage in so I could see it completely, but the pin just doesn't 'fold in' by itself. Sounds like I might have the wrong one? When I can push the spring it's really straight forwards and go's straight in.

It goes in and doesn't open at the bottom?

Correct! Goes in the top as top is wider than the bottom, but bottom is only wide enough for it without the spring, so obviously the spring needs to go in. Annoying as I can't check the linkage properly until this is in!
Unless I can try and slide a ruler or something to push in the spring when the linkage is in, will have to try again tomorrow.

Try and grease it up if it's sticking then. I just pushed mine through with my fingers. Didn't even have to tap it through.
