Hi all,

Got a push-button ignition start kit.

Only trouble is, it say's that it has to be connected via the started motor though i lack the adequate equipment to keep it jacked up safely/at all

So was wondering if anyone knew if it is needed to be connected to the starter motor and if they knew an alternative way.

Cheers

Steve

dont need to jack it up, just take the ignition covering off, take the ignition plug off and you will see the wires. The only hard bit is the relay to ensure you cannot turn the car over without the ignition being on. Without the relay you can start the starter motor but the car will not turn over.

Is the ignition covering you mean by the steering wheel or in the engine bay itself?

cowling around the steering wheel, i think the starter cable is the black/red wire going to the ignition switch but i could confirm that tomorrow if you like as my car is in pieceslol

Would anyone happen to have a picture of the plug/wires in question or a diagram that could help?

Cheers

the wires on the back of the ignition barrel, the black with red stripe is the starter motor switch,if you get a test lamp or multimeter-one of the black wires (cant remember for sure been a while since a did one) will be live all the time, you want the one that comes live when your ignition lights come on,easiest way if yo dont have that is as above, just dont short anything out you shouldnt lol

anything you modify on the cars starting loom to make theft easier will be an easy reason for insurers to not pay out. Ask your insurance company if they will cover theft from the car if you fit this pointless modification, they probably wont.
