I can't read properly.
I have a version of the second one that doesn't have the arm, its a good bracket.
Looks a bit more sturdy than the 1st.

We have one similar to the second one up at the shop and its top quality. Built solidly and no flex like you get out of the arm one as John says.

They dont look like they could hold a 50", im thinking the second one too.
Going to hang the tv over a low level cabinet. the black glass one we have now hold dust like crazy...

If you don't need the arm get the version of the second one that doesn't have it, about half the price as well.

its going in an alcove so when not in use it would be nice to push it back to the wall

Wouldn't recommend a 50" TV on a cantilever bracket unless you really need it to swivel.
Go for the 2nd one mate

I know what your saying, dont see how they can hold a 50" - i do need it to swivel, just a little.

The second one cantilevers as well, it just looks like 2 of the bracket in the 1st picture, thats it extended.
