over the last 3 days my x16xe likes to rev upto 2500 rpm on its own every now and again and when at junctions the revs sometimes go very low and stall. does that sound like the icv? if so how much are they for a new one?

sounds like ICV problems.
easiest way to sort it is to take it out and clean it up.

its right down the back of the engine, reight hand side between the battery and lower inlet, tricky one to get to, take out battery and header tank.
clean it with brake cleaner or petrol, clean up the throtle housing as well. I often remve the complete throttle body and put it in the parts washer to soak so that all of the icv passages are cleaned out.

think there only bout £30 new. Mine was on 1.2 not sure on a 1.6 tho
