"It's your clutch cable pal"... Should I trust him?
Apparently I can't get my car into reverse without hearing some roaring grind (roling or idle) because he can apparently see some of the 'inside of the clutch cable on the outside of the clutch cable'. Other gears are also becoming a bit of a struggle too. He managed to tell this in the blink of an eye also, told me to press the clutch whilst he looked at the engine. I dunno anymore...
He's charging £80 (exluding VAT of course..) And says my problems might not end there.
Anyone elses Corsa B ever suffered from this or does anyone have any advice/reckon it could be worse?
Cheers for any thoughts added.

i wouldnt think so, as long as the cable is operating, the cable is adjustable, and if its been adjusted already, i would say you need a clutch

I think it has been adjsuted before. I've recently noticed the biting point slipping right down to the floor aswell.

he could be rite then, but you could change a clutch cable yourself its easy, usually the bite would get higher as the clutch wears, but it sounds as tho the cables stretched ao even on its last legs,

Well when I got the car in January, the bite was really high, foot was practically off of the pedal etc. Then I took it for a service and mentioned the clutch. When I got it back it had gone right down to the floor. I'm befuddled anyway...

mine does the exact same when rolling from first, putting clutch down and into reverse it makes an awful grinding sound. i toke i to to a garage today to get the gear oil changed and gear linkage sorted was costing me 250 quid i told him where to get off. i'll just have a go myself.

try to adjust your clutch cable first, takes a matter of minutes. I had the same problem a few months back, adjusted me clutch and it was fine

Every Corsa I have driven crunches a bit going into reverse. You might want to try re-setting your gear linkage first as they can slip slightly out of position making the situation worse.

Only wish I knew how to do all this. I'll try the cable and if it's still fucked I'll just sell it. Bloody sick of it. Stupid Diesel.

clutch cable is £16 and no more than 30 mins to fit!
Infact I did one on a tigra last week, came to £38 in total including adjusting the cable.

Go under the car and find where the linkage goes into the engine bay, there will be a 13mm bolt there that needs to be slackened off. Now give the gear lever a wiggle from side to side to slacken things off.
Take the leather gaiter off round the gear stick and you'll see a small hole on the left in the plastic mold. Stick a drill bit in there to hold it still.
On the top of the gear box there in a selector box. You'll either have a plastic plunger with a spring on it or a plastic cap that you need to pull out and push a drill bit through.
You'll need to wiggle the selector for the plunger to fit into a little hole on the inside. You'll know when you have found it.
When you have done all that, tighten up that 13mm bolt and remove all the drill bits and go for a little test drive.

Oh and holywoodj, twist the adjuster on your clutch cable, clockwise 2 full turns. That should sort that out. Do another if it is needed.
Failing that, before you start the engine, select reverse, clutch down, start the engine. No crunch

Just an update for any folks who might use this for they're own problems... Went out for a longer drive than my usual drift to work today. And boy was it a drive.
bassically it feels like the clutch isnt in fully depressed because now -All gears wont go in unless it's really shoved and I don't really want to damage the gearbox. So how did i drive? - so starting from idle - first gear, clutch down, engine on. And from then on every time I need a gear change engine off (whilst moving) 2nd gear, clutch down, and engine back on. Bit of a pain and I don't know what the hell is causing it. I really hope this isn't the gear box...

try adjusting the clutch cable, if its stretched too far, replace it.
