Author issue regarding onboard USB

For some reason the on board usb doesnt seem to be working or the memory card reader I have attached to the usb 9 pin part of the motherboard to get the extra ones but that doesnt seem to work either where can i find it in device manager??? and is there a solution to this cheers

ps dont know what make and model my motherboard is how can i tell???
