hi im in the middle of putting my alternator belt back together and i cant get this tensioner to fit is there like a back plate to go onto it? as there is no where for the pins sticking out to locate anyone know how it goes on any help be great cheers lee
also its off a x14xe engine 1.4 16v no power steering or air con

I'm sure mine had a sort of backing plate on it as you say, although i can't be sure...

dont think they do have a backing plate but should go to left of cambelt covers near bottom there should be 2 locating holes on block with hole to bolt the torx bolt into block . all cambelts ive done havent noticed backing plate on these tensioners

on the left side under the alternator? ive been putting it on the right side on top of bottom pully maybe thats why?

yes left under alternator bolts to the lower alternator mount!
