On your PC (where the music is), you need to:
Share your music folder, give it a name etc, you might be able to make it so anyone can connect to it but can only read the data.
On the PC downstairs (with the writer):
You need to mapp the folder you've shared, when in Windows Explorer go to Tools->Map Network Drive.
In the address part type in \\YOURCOMPUTERNAME\sharename
YOURCOMPUTERNAME = Computer name of your PC upstairs
sharename = the name of the share you've made earlier on your PC.
If it asks for a username and password then type in the one you use on your PC, it should map the folder to a new drive letter (check in My Computer).
Then in your CD burning program just browse to that drive letter and boom.
PS - to share a folder right click on it and click properties or sharing, there will be an option somewhere there...

backup your important files and then run something like GetDataBack on the drive that had your music.
Takes a while (depending on the size of your drive), so it's worth leaving on over night but you should beable to get most of it back
