Just looking at mobile broadbad contracts with Vodafone and 3 Mobile.
Reading a lot of reviews makes both of them sound pretty unreliable signal wise and pretty slow.
I don't do much video watching/downloading a month so reckon a 1GB package would be enough but I'm not going to sign up to a contract until I've heard some good words about it......
Any got it/had it?

Guess it depends on the area (plus all the reviews were 6 months old probably before 3G rolled out properly )
Any deals to be had off the contract price Robbo?

I do rave about it, yeah
I get full speed and full signal where I live and it's ace, but on the other hand, it barely makes a signal at my g/f's mums house and is slow and shit, but she lives in the country.
Oh, and there's no contract on 3, you can just use the PAYG tarriff and you get exactly the same for your money.

Vodafones coverage map is weird though.....
My entire town is covered apart from a small circle 1/4 of a mile wide centred on my house

Not really, I paid £100 for mine when they first came out. Well worth it and has resale value.

I bought the mobile 3 pay as you go package last week. I cant fault it tbh. I paid £50 for the modem, you can top up £10 (1gb), £15 (3gb) and £25 (7gb) as and when you need it, but a top up only lasts 30days. The only reason I went for it is because I didnt want to get tied down into a contract. I have half strength signal at my uni house and the speeds are very quick.

Guy in work was talking about a package where you get a free laptop up front, think it's 30pm for 24 mo. So 700 quid, but you get a computer worth nearly that and 2mb connection for the duration.
If it worked at the Pod that quick I might be tempted

Think I'll go for it, hopefully they'll stick a 7-day money back thing when you buy from the 3 shop.
Think PAYG will be best too - the worst it'll cost me is petrol to return it, otherwise mobile broadband
Plus I already have a laptop, none of this 8gb crap

It's a netbook, it's not supposed to have a massive hd.
I had no need in my life for a netbook until I seen them in pc world today and now I want one

I mean if I were buying a laptop I would go for a small one, ie. something like that.
Storage isn't an issue, you're never far from a proper drive. Think of the speed / power / weight benefits

not to mention you can get 16gig sdhc cards for about 30 quid
or portable usb powered external harddrives for around 30 quid for 120 meg.
as you can tell im a fan of net books

Back on topic, went up to the three store today. They wanted an extra £10 over the web price for a USB thingy only, but also had an offer of USB + 3 months 1GB download pack for £70 which is a bit of a saving. Will give it a go when I get home tonight and pray that it works

Will get on their technical support tomorrow
