Hello there,
Very recently, sometime last year, about 2k miles ago, i had the headgasket go on my car.
So it got stripped down, and was found to have a cracked head, so out and bought a brand new head, fitted all with brand new gaskets/seals etc etc.
The other day, car was pinking and misfiring,
So compression tested it and got the following:
Cylinder 1 - 150psi Cylinder 2 - 150psi Cylinder 3 - 4psi Cylinder 4 - 4psi
So stripped the whole lot down to find this:
Any ideas as to why this would happen?
Nick

incorectly torqued head bolts, warped/incorrectly skimmed head, dodgy head gasket?

Well was a brand new head so thats pretty much ruled out?
As for the gasket then maybe and same for head bolts, but we did torque them as the book said =[
Engine is X14XE

have found that on a fiesta, clio williams, toyota supra, mr2 turbo they seem to go like that, get the head checked for trueness and check the block for being dipped on that set of cylinders.. If they are all ok then its only a head gasket thats gone..

my guess would be incorrect torque tbh. Would have expected more deformation of the gasket around the red lines.
Doubt the bllock is the issue and obviously head was new!

i've seen brand new heads warped and some come in to be built up and when you tighten the cam's down they shatter the head, poor casting. More than likely just a dodgy head gasket!
