i got a new phone from o2 about 3 or 4 weeks a go but there is loads of dust behind the screen, is this a valid enough reason to return it and get a replacement? its not a massive thing but annoying.

Depends on if it indicates the screen is sealed correctly or not. Might be difficult a case to argue after 3/4 weeks. What phone is it by the way?. Not a i8510 by any chance?

its a nokia 6220, its just pisses me off, but i could live with it, i'll prob ring them later and see what they say.

tell em it just randomly turns off by itself, they cant prove it and if your within 28 days they must replace it.

do you know if you can get the case off a nokia 6220 so i can clean it myself? had a quick look but it doesnt look like it wants to come off and i dont want to break it.

I doubt that very much, you are buying a product and if it doesn't meet your expectations or you suspect a manufacturing fault (poor dust seals) then you should tell them.
If they laughed at me over the phone, i'd be taking their name and writing a letter of complaint.

i know it does sound a bit soft, but surely the inside of the screen of a phone that is 4 weeks old shouldnt be covered in dust.

My 6280 did this, was a poor dust seal, and it does get annoying. Youve got a better chance if you are within your first 28 days or what not
